What happened in 2006? (Copy of an old blog post)

So, I was having a conversation with one of my prophytes about some of the issues with the "new milleneum" greeks. YES! I am a new milleneum greek no shame in that, but my prophytes made sure that I knew certain things before stepping out into the world of greekdom. The made sure that I would represent the chapter well, and that I would be able to hold my own (Thank you prophytes for all of your hard work!). So anyway, in this conversation that I was having with this soror who had crossed before me we were talking about sorors being "raised right" vs. those sorors you can't tell anything, and I began to immediately think of some sorors who weren't raised right. Immediately, I noticed that most of the ones that I could think of came from 2006. Then, I noticed that the 2 main issues that sorors or greeks for that matter who weren't raised right are discretion and deference.

I'm going to start with my chapter sorors cuz I can do that! My 06 neos are the worst. They asses need to be put back on line about 3 more times. These hoes (yes I said hoes) have no respect for their chapter whatsoever. The go around to other chapters and other organizations and air out the chapter's laundry. DA FUCK?!?!? My prophytes really know how I feel about that! (I better not see said soror anytime soon). Do they not understand that they are making themselves look bad as well since they came through the chapter that they are talking about? In addition to that, they don't know how to speak. I've been to several events and been in several locations with 06 and they can't even say hey.

Enough about them! My next issue comes from a soror who I acutally deemed as my Spec. (bad idea). She is the OWTEST soror ever, but now owt in a good way. First, she's at every single UG party, social event, gathering (she crossed Alumnae), but won't step foot near a community service event, chapter meeting, fund raiser. Next, she is the queen hazer. She's quick to holla about putting somebody in the cut and hasn't seen the likes of the cut a day in her life. Third, she has no clue about deference or her role as a neophyte. Let me tell you a story so you'll fully understand.....

My FBD is greek. He came to see me last weekend, but before he got here he did something that his prophyte did not approve of. So, his prophyte told him that he needed to come and see him before he left town. She asked me what time was FBD supposed to be coming into town because she had reserved us the guest suite at her complex. I was like I don't know it may be a while because he had to go and see his prophyte. She was like and what's going to happen if he doesn't? He's a grown ass man who has his letters he no longer has to answer to his prophytes. (See right there no clue!) I was just like with fraternities especially deference is strong and there is an utmost respect for the people who came before you; therefore when they ask of you you do it! Her response was whatever.

I think because a lot of the sorors that she hangs around did cross before her, and that we all joke and play around with her so much that when we do try and pull the prophyte card she doesn't take it seriously. Take for instance today I asked her if she could contact one of the members of another chapter to find out the line name and number of a young lady who is crossing this Saturday so that I could put together a gift basket for her. Her response to me was dawg I don't fuck with said chapter like that, can't you call her and ask her yourself, didn't you write her letter? WTF?!?!? I didn't ask you all of that! Or...here's another one. She sent me a text message about said crossing on Saturday and her message said that it was an induction. So I sent her an text back informing her that it is an initiation not an induction. She responded "whatever you knew what I meant". JESUS take the wheel!

I don't know what to do...so I'm done. It is obvious that these greeks need a refresher course in discretion and deference.
